A Grants-in-Aid distribution ceremony under the aegis of the Directorate of Indigenous and Tribal Faith and Culture, Assam was held on the 16th July 2023 where 18 nos of Indigenous and Tribal Faith and Culture Organizations were bestowed with a grant of Rs. 10 lakh each. 73 nos of Indigenous Places of Worship were bestowed with a grant of Rs. 5 lakh each. And further, a package of Rs. 2 Crore was thereby granted to Dularai Bathou Gouthum (All Bathou Mahasabha, Gorchuk, Guwahati.
The event was auspiciously organized at the GMCH Auditorium, Bhangagarh and the occasion was graced by the august presence of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma. Other distinguished members present were Urkhao Gwra Brahma, Hon’ble Minister, Handloom & Textile, Soil Conservation and Welfare of Bodoland, Ashok Singhal, Hon’ble Minister, Housing & Urban Affairs, Irrigation, Nandita Gorlosa, Hon’ble Minister, Power, Sports & Youth Affairs, Cooperation etc. Pabitra Margherita, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Political Advisor to HCM, Assam, Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council & Manab Deka, Hon’ble MLA, Lakhimpur.
The vibrant presence of different indigenous and tribal faith and cultural organizations in their traditional attires added a sense of colour and assimilation to the entire proceedings and stood testament to the fact that Assam, as a state is blessed with Ethno-Cultural Diversity. It is this diversity that this Directorate is pledged to protect, preserve and help prosper!
